Volunteer with BullyingCanada!

There are so many opportunities to make a difference in the lives of bullied kids, both directly working with youth and indirectly supporting them by working with the office team!

Two Ways to Make a Difference

BullyingCanada relies on hundreds of highly trained volunteers to give bullied youth critical services and support.

Working Directly with Youth

Join the Support Team on our Lifeline. Support Team Responders work one-on-one with each young person until the bullying has stopped and they are on the road to healing.

  • Answer young people who reach out by phone, text, or email.
  • Work with kids, their parents, teachers, principals, and even police when it’s needed.
  • Follow up for as long as it takes. That can be two weeks, or a year or more.

Supporting the Office Team

Not every way of helping means answering the Lifeline. Volunteers who work with our office team support bullied kids too, behind the scenes.

What the Support Team Does

Our volunteers don’t just give advice and hang up. They find the problem, solve it, and help stop it from coming back.

  1. A Young Person Reaches Out

By phone, text, chat, or email, any hour of any day. A trained volunteer answers, usually within minutes.

  2. We Listen, and We Make a Plan

Together we work out what is happening, who is involved, and what a safe outcome looks like.

  3. We Bring In the People Who Can End It

With the young person’s consent, we talk to parents, teachers, principals, the kids doing the bullying and their families, and police when it’s needed. We make sure the school has a bullying policy and knows how to enforce it.

  4. We Stay Until It’s Over

We follow up for as long as it takes, and our volunteer professional counsellors help kids heal from the trauma.

Highly Trained, and Never Alone

Support Team Responders are trained in support, suicide prevention, mediation, and problem-solving.

Every BullyingCanada Support Team volunteer is ASIST (Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training) certified, as are our co-founders.

Our volunteer Support Responders work alongside professional Counsellors, who help kids heal from the trauma.
