Accessibility
A Site Every Kid Can Use
Kids reach out to us on every kind of device, and some of them use screen readers, keyboard navigation, or larger text. We built this site to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 at level AA.
What We've Done
Colour Contrast
Text and buttons meet AA colour contrast.
Keyboard Friendly
Everything works with a keyboard, with a visible focus outline and a link to skip straight to the content.
A Font Made for Low Vision
Our body typeface, Atkinson Hyperlegible, was designed for readers with low vision.
Less Motion on Request
Animation switches off when your device asks for reduced motion.
Described Images and Clear Structure
Images carry text descriptions, and pages use proper headings and landmarks.
Quick Exit
The Quick Exit button, or pressing Escape twice, leaves the site at once.
Your Language
The site is available in English and French, with more languages from the menu at the bottom of every page.
